Abstract

Establishment of Muslim Conference in 1932 was a historical moment in the history of political consciousness of Kashmiri Muslims. In 1938, Muslim Conference was re-organized and its nomenclature changed as “National Conference”. The objective behind this purpose was to bring the monitories living in Kashmir under the platform of National Conference and bring them into mainstream of political struggle of consciousness in Kashmir. Sheikh Abdullah led the National Conference. The failure of capturing the minds of Kashmiri Muslims by National Conference resulted restoration of Muslim Conference led by Ch. Ghalam Abbas. Both Muslim Conference and National Conference claimed to be the representative of Kashmiri Muslims. Ch. Ghalam Abbas and Sheikh Abdullah invited Muhammad Ali Jinnah to visit Kashmir in 1944. The purpose of this invitation was to get favor of Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah on their respective political stance. This article will analyze the visit of Quid e Azam to Kashmir as a political success of the stance of Muslim Conference over the issue of representation of Kashmiris. This study also the highlight the impacts on politics of National Conference after the visit of Quid e Azam in Kashmir and the total inclination of National Conference towards Indian National Congress.”
